play around with a graphic eq when listening to one voice solo, get it sounding good, save that as a preset. If you are going to run a noise gate, do it first.Įq should be individual voice/mic combo specific. If you compress before noise gate, then you are amplifying what you are later trying to remove.Ĭompress doesn't just turn down the loud bits, it turns up the soft bits. If you want to see what settings I'm using now, I can give screenshots of something.Įdit: Here are the settings I'm using now: But I constantly have to tweak the sound before I start editing and would love a macro that could handle a bulk of that manual work.Īnd I know that there isn't a one fits all solution but if someone has something they like, I'd love to take a look and see if it would help me as well. The end result I have now isn't bad honestly. I think this could be solved with the first goal, maybe. Remove the breathing sounds using noise gate without removing the quieter talking. Improve sound quality to have a richer quality One is softer than the other but also can have peeks when laughing. I've also been experimenting with de-essing and noise gate (to remove the breathing sounds in between speaking) and I run a graphic EQ that I don't love, can't get it to do exactly what I need.Įven out the volumes between the two speakers. Right now I run a macro that runs compressor, normalize, and then filter curve EQ. I'm hoping someone who also edits a female-hosted pod will have a macro they use that I can experiment with. I know that mixing is sort of an art form but whatever help I can get would be really appreciated. I'm editing a female-hosted podcast and would love some help with mixing the audio.
